Description

Alphagan Ophthalmic Solution by Allergan contains Brimonidine Tartrate, an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It works by decreasing aqueous humor production and increasing uveoscleral outflow, helping protect the optic nerve and maintain long-term eye health. Its formulation is widely preferred in ophthalmic care for its effectiveness and safety profile when used as prescribed.

Dosage:
The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily, or as directed by an ophthalmologist.

Administration:
For ophthalmic use only. Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface. Close the eye gently after instillation and apply nasolacrimal pressure to reduce systemic absorption.

Side Effects:
Alphagan may cause mild eye irritation, redness, dry mouth, or blurry vision. Some patients may experience allergic conjunctivitis, fatigue, or headache. Although uncommon, systemic effects such as low blood pressure or drowsiness can occur; patients should avoid driving if vision becomes temporarily blurred after use.
